Course Description The course of Sociology of contemporary cities intends to give the student some critical and practical instruments to consider the implications of the current changes in contemporary cities for architectural and planning work. Such changes have deep impacts on the contexts in which people live, on the resources they can get access to, as well as on their housing needs and practices and residential choices. The course will first introduce the student to sociology, providing the basic elements of classic and contemporary theory and of methodology. Then it will focus on the analysis of the main changes affecting contemporary cities in a comparative perspective.
