Course Description Industrial and technological relevance of electrical materials and their classification. Microstructure and bonding in electrical materials. Electrical conductivity in metals: properties and applications. Dielectric materials: main properties; applications and uses. Cables and wires. Magnetic materials: magnetic dipole; magnetic permeability and susceptibility; classification of magnetic materials; magnetization and hysteresis loop; eddy currents losses; domain theory; soft and hard magnetic materials: types and applications. Practical class activity: numerical exercises on all topics of the course will be performed. Closed questions tests of self-evaluation. All exercises and test will be solved during class activity. Aim of the course: to enable the students to select the appropriate materials for the most relevant industrial applications in the electrical sector Reference textbook: K.M. Gupta & N.
