Course Description Aim of the course, divided in different sections, is the general outline of the aerodynamic project of a flying machine based on the required specifications and performances. It requires finally also the acquisition of the necessary data either by tests or by numerical simulation. It starts from the payload requirements in terms of internal volume, for going on discussing the main subjects of aerodynamics , focussing the interest on commercial airplanes. The aerodynamic design problem is mainly seen from the aspect of inverse methods. Propulsion problems are also shortly considered. For each section the interactions of the aerodynamic design with other aspects of the flying machine problems are considered with the aim of showing possible penalties of some aspect of the aerodynamic choices on other aspects of the design
