Course Description Basics in automatic control and methods for system stability analysis. Reactor kinetics (1 group, multiple groups, reactor period and reactivity). Reactor dynamics at zero power. Power feedbacks. Theory and analysis of control rods, reactivity control systems in PWR and BWR. Reactor dynamics and control at power conditions (PWR, BWR). Stability analysis: Storrer criterion. Main safety systems in Nuclear Power Plants. Modelling passive safety systems - two-phase flow thermalhydraulics. Accident conditions main phenomena: thermal critical flux, critical flow. Exercise on modelling reactor kinetics, dynamics and control; exercise at TRIGA research reactor (LENA lab.-Pavia).
