Course Description This course aims to introduce the student to the main practical tools for the numerical solution of partial differential equations. The course comprises exercise sessions and practical activities where the student will be able to put into practice the numerical techniques tough in the course and implement them on a computer. Numerical methods such as finite elements, finite volume and finite difference will be introduced, together with tools for the analysis of their convergence. We will address elliptic, parabolic, linear hyperbolic and saddle point problems, with particular emphasis to applications in the aeronautic field.
