Course Description Characteristics, scope, design issues, management and organization of the different configurations of manufacturing systems design criteria of process plants and equipment manufacturing (manufacturing systems, and installation manual and automatic). The study of the layout: products and reports, layout schemes and appraisal of editing, layout alternatives and selection criteria. Design criteria for the service of material handling and storage, automatic deposits. Simulation models. The performance of production systems/logistics and costs for decisions: productivity, flexibility and throughput. The inventory management. Basics of distribution logistics (Distribution Planning): The mono-and multi-level distribution networks, Hub and Spoke, Criteria for design and management of distribution centers. The order entry (picking, sorting, consolidation). The local distribution and freight over long distances. Basic aspects of production management (Production Planning): The continuous improvement in operations: learning curves, Kaizen. The redesign of logistics production systems: the Business Process Re-engineering: mapping and process analysis and identification of benchmarks; Diagnosis and identification of critical processes, reengineering of processes and choice of policy alternatives.
