Course Description The course provides theoretical and practical skills about the modern methodologies for technological forecasting and prediction of system evolution. More in details, it covers a set of methods and techniques facilitating study about future changes, starting from problems of forecasting, existing solution for prediction and their limitations. Then, the Researching Future methodology is presented in details, with practical examples to be run both individually and as teamwork. As a complementary toolkit, the course will introduce also software for S-curve analysis and TRIZ based techniques for anticipating the main features of future technologies. Finally, emerging approaches for long-term forecasting will be presented, with details about their main features, advantages and limitations in contexts of decision making and knowledge management.
