Course Description The course focuses on the fundamental physics of multiphase systems in order to develop tools for analysis and design of the most significant energy technologies. The principles of multiphase flow and heat transfer are applied through the discussion of case studies involving the design of: boilers and condensers for power and process industry, pipelines for oil&gas facilities and transport of slurries, fluidized beds, phase change materials for energy storage applications. Experimental laboratories complete ex-cathedra lectures in order to provide a major understanding of theoretical modelling through experimental validation. On the other hand, teamwork project laboratories aim at combining design abilities with soft skills.
