Course Description Single computer based control: interrupt mechanism, I/O techniques (polling, interrupt, direct memory access), OS structure, tasks and their management, scheduling. Real-time scheduling algorithms: real-time problem, mathematical formulation and optimality criteria, scheduling algorithms for aperiodic tasks, scheduling algorithms for periodic tasks, scheduling algorithms for mixed tasks, algorithms for overload management. Computer network based control: distributed control systems, network topologies, network structure, ISO/OSI protocols, Foundation FieldBus and Profibus, real-time on communication networks, real-time Ethernet, examples of real-time systems, scheduling in communication networks. Computer synchronization: inner synchronization and outer synchronization. Developing software applications: software engineering, software cycle, requirements analysis, specification methodologies, UML and state-chart.
