Course Description Learning objectives: The course provides the base knowledge and tools for the design and the management of the production system focusing on the integration among its several components. Contents: The course analysis some types of integrated manufacturing systems such as Flexible Manufacturing Systems and Transfer Lines. The student is supported with tools for the analysis of integrated manufacturing systems. In more details the course provides the knowledge on Markov chains, queuing theory and simulation techniques focusing on their use during the phases of system performance analysis and system design. Laboratory activities are planned to help the student to analyse some problems that characterize the system design phase. Hours: lectures: 29 h, classworks: 12 h, laboratory activities: 24 h.
