Course Description Embedded Systems: characteristics, requirements and constraints. Hardware architectures: type of software executors, communication and interfacing, off-the-shelf components, architectures for prototyping and volume productions. Software architectures: abstraction levels, real-time operating systems, complex networked systems, tools and methodologies for code analysis, profiling and optimization. Analysis and optimization of Hw/Sw architectures for embedded systems: design constraints management and choice of the architecture. Estimation and optimization of Performance/Power at several abstraction level, project management, design for reuse. Run-time management of resources.Case studies to highlight tradeoffs depending on the application field and size of the considered system.
