Course Description As is well known a system can be nonlinear in many a way. Correspondingly, a wide variety of interesting problems and methods can hardly be imbedded in a single setting or simply led to a uniform theoretical frame. The topics and results included in the present program are primarily meant as a significant illustration of that variety as well as an introduction to deeper investigations along specific directions. The main subjects are: 1) classical tools for design oriented performance evaluation of single-input single-output single-nonlinearity feedback control systems (describing function, circle criterion), 2) Lyapunov function based robust stabilization techniques, 3) exact or approxiamate linearization by feedback, 4) optimal control theory with special emphasis on minimum-time or periodic control.
