Course Description The goal of this course is to study in detail the concepts relevant to dynamic simulation, with reference to particular classes of problems as well as to modeling techniques. Two approaches will be outlined: a causal approach, based on the integration of ordinary differential equations (ODE), and an acausal approach, based on the integration of differential-algebraic equations (DAE). With reference to the first approach the Simulink environment will be analyzed in particular. Concerning the modeling techniques, the modular, object-oriented approach based on the language Modelica will be outlined. The modeling and simulation environment Dymola will be used with reference to some applications.
