Course Description Four areas in the computational aspects of robotics are explored: 1. From teleprogramming to autonomous robots - Interfaces for robots with different autonomy - virtual physical systems and their role in robotics- devices to interact with virtual and physical environments and to get physical feedback- planning and executing tasks2. Design and analysis of robot societies- Collective control of actions and perceptions - Robot communication- Emergence of collective behaviors 3. Cooperation of robots and humans- humanoid robots: design and movement - communication and language- sensing unstructured environments 4. Robot as an evolving system- Biomimetical models- learning in robotsThe basic topics crossing all the areas are:- Reactive, cognitive, and hybrid architectures for autonomous robots- robot action planning- neural systems and models for learning and control - interpretation, mapping, reconstruction from sensor data
