Course Title ELEMENTS OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
Course Type Mono-Disciplinary Course
Credits (CFU / ECTS) 4.0
Semester Second Semester
Course Description The course deals with the theme of landscape not as a pure image of art, but as part of the ars aedificandi, measuring itself against the physical and imaginative dimension of the materials with which landscape architecture operates between nature and culture , between structure and image, between space and form. In this sense, landscape architecture is manifested primarily as a project / construction of a place in which natural and artificial objects weave spatial relationships articulated by quality and quantity capable of producing orders and hierarchies in the environment in which they insist. In this perspective, the "scientific" approach to measuring and surveying the ordering geometries of a territory (which feeds on the tradition of studies in the field of historical geography and anthropogeography) merges with the "poetic" approach of a representation that refers to something that is at the same time shown and hidden, placing itself within that process of incessant re-registration (between nature and culture), through which an environmental system takes value and meaning over time for those who they live there.
