Course Description The course of Sociology of Media aims to analyse and study in-depth the theoretical, methodological, design and production aspects that have marked the evolution of media and communication practices in relation to socio-cultural changes and continuous technological innovations. The course aims to provide critical skills and analytical tools to understand the styles, codes and different languages that have marked the different models of the Information Society. During the course, the following topics will be examined: the evolution of the media, the birth and development of the network society, digital rhetoric, the cross-media and trans-media translation models, the convergence paradigms, dissemination and re-mediation, construction theories of connective and collective bottom-up knowledge, the audience and prosuming creation, the maker culture, policy aspects and open source licensing, the emergency models and complexity models of the digital world, as well as the economic, social and political mechanisms of information.
