Course Description Technological devices are taking an important role in the life of millions of people, and the phenomenon will increase (disappearing computing, internet of things, etc.) The seamless and effective interaction with these devices is a key aspect for their success: people would like to have a simple and natural interaction with the technology that is pervading their lives. The course focuses on designing interaction between people and artificial entities such as programs, robots, smart buildings, vehicles, objects in general. The course introduces the basic principles of interaction and communication, and presents techniques to design and implement effective interaction. Interface means will be presented, including sensors and actuators. Some case studies will be analyzed to put in evidence critical aspects. Possible solutions and improvements will be defined during the last lessons following a constructive approach. No specific technology will be exploited and no specific technological background is expected.
