Course Description The Laboratory intends to provide students with the basic knowledge to model the project with the aid of BIM (Building Information Modeling) techniques and tools. The characteristics and potential of the most used digital drawing systems are tested to carry out the graphic elaboration of the preliminary and executive architectural project. The most widespread digital platforms will be used and students will be guided to use different software, in order to understand the differences and learn to evaluate among those most suitable for the representation of the specific building project and the coordination of multidisciplinary work teams. The practical exercise constitutes the fundamental activity of the Laboratory and is based on the development of one or more building projects. The fundamentals of representation studied in the teaching of Drawing will be applied here in an integrated form with the aim of using a graphic language based on the science of representation and on the international conventions of Drawing. The exercises will be articulated according to the computer knowledge already in the students' possession, the teaching is aimed above all at enabling the student to independently manage the development needs of the project. This means highlighting the synergies between traditional design and BIM, especially as regards the Information associated with the design of the project, and detecting the advantages and disadvantages of the various software, to be able to interpret the input requests and know how to interrogate programs through the online help. The laboratory is organized into two modules: Module 1 - BIM techniques Module 2 - CAD techniques TOPICS Practical exercises: BIM-CAD techniques and design elaborations. Standardization of the operational process and of the methods of representation. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawing: basic tools and techniques for drawing processing and modification; organization of the workspace and archives; drawing libraries; customization of the work environment; automation and scheduling of operations. Management and organization: economics of a computerized graphic archive. Conversion of pre-existing paper archives. Use of different graphic formats. Case studies: analysis of projects carried out with BIM-CAD techniques
