Course Description This course provides the fundamentals for understanding the energy processes that take place in fluid machines by relying on a strictly engineering approach. The main topics covered are: the calculation of the properties of fluids and the related equations of state, the conservation equations applied to open systems, the basic laws of heat transfer, the general principles of operation of hydraulic and compressible flow machines and heat exchangers presented as components for widespread applications in the energy sector. The main objective of the course is to provide the student with the skills necessary for the description and analysis of components or systems through the formulation of their mass and energy balances.
