Course Description Hydrogeological risk: a. hazard perception, prediction, prevention e forecasting, b. identification of flood hazard; c. hazard, exposure and risk; d. review of structural and non-structural methods for flood risk mitigation. 2. Flood estimation: a. probabilistic methods for risk and reliability analysis; b. the index flood method, c. growth curve estimation via regionalization, d. index flood estimation, e. flood prediction for a specific river site, f. expected flood volume. 3. River flow and inundated areas: a. uniform and steady motion in rivers, b. local effects, c. flood plane hydraulics, d. water surface, energy grade and overflooding thersholds, e. flood hazard mapping procedures (topographic, topologic, volume-based methods), f. human stability and building damage in inundated areas. 4. Civil protection: a. General, b. Administration and management of civil protection in Italy and Europe, c. Emergency management and planning, d. Prediction, prevention and damage evaluation.
