Course Title VIRTUAL PROTOTYPING (C.I.)
Course Type Integrated Course
Credits (CFU / ECTS) 10.0
Semester First Semester
Course Description The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge on methodologies and technologies for the development of virtual and physical prototypes of industrial products. The state of the art of Extended Reality (i.e. Virtual and Augmented Reality) technologies will be used to develop simulations of products that allow us to validate and evaluate design solutions, and also the digital twins, highly complex virtual models that are the exact replica of their physical counterparts. The integrated course includes the two modules Virtual Prototyping Methods and Haptics, which together offer a holistic view of product prototyping, integrating methodological approaches and multimedia and multisensory simulations. At the end of the course the student will have knowledge and will master the use of virtual prototyping and Extended Reality technologies for the development of virtual and physical prototypes to use in the design of new products to validate functional, aesthetic, ergonomic and experiential aspects.
