Course Description Introduction to hydrologic science (definition and scope of hydrology). Basic hydrologic concepts. The hydrologic cycle, hydrological phenomena, spatial and temporal scale. Basic aspects of global climate. Watershed and drainage network (topographic, geologic geomorphologic and climate characteristics; drainage network structure and organization. Precipitation (eteorology of precipitation, measurements at a point, areal estimation). Infiltration (material properties of soil, soil water storage, quantitative modelling of infiltration at a point). Evapotranspiration physics of evaporation, interception, potential Evapotranspiration, actual evapotranspiration). Surface water( surface water river flow regimes, stream response to water input events, rainfallrunoff modelling ). Hydrologic extremes: floods and droughts. Civil protection and environmental measurements hydrologic design.
