Course Description The course aims at providing the basic knowledge of BIMs (Building Information Modeling) in the framework of the AEC (Architecture-Engineering-Construction) industry. Students will be familiar with BIM's approach, intended as a technology as well as a process. The goal of the course is to provide students with the theoretical fundamentals of BIM and the practical skills to model buildings and facilities. Main topics are: definitions and role of BIM in the typical Civil Engineering projects workflow, acquisition, modelling and visualization of data for multidimensional BIM modeling, BIM in the building life cycle, Levels of Maturity definitions, BIM national and international adoption and implementation, LOD classification and BIM related regulations overview, data interoperability, BIM authoring software and BIM modelling in practice.
