Course Description The course in History of Architecture 2 has the main goal to provide the future architect-engineer with the cultural means of approaching and studying the past by way of a sound historical knowledge and critical attitude. The general scenario of art and architecture, already dealt with during the course of History of Architecture 1, will be completed; a more specific attention and a more in-depth view will be given to buildings, places, events, architects and engineers, mainly pertaining to the local and regional context. This part of the course will be carried out in relationship with the activities of the laboratory in History of Architecture 2. The aims are to give the students the technical tools and the cultural awareness for developing a specialised methodology in order to analyse, interpret and evaluate historical architecture in various epochs, to reconnect places and events, and to appreciate the significance of the historical heritage for a conscious approach to modern planning and design.
