Course Description The course wants to analyze in dept all the safety issues and to optimize the major chimical reactors employed in industrial synthesis used for very fast and exothermic reactions. Tools for the modeling of accidents due to thermal explosions will also be provided. In particular the following aspects will be addressed: thermal explosions, runaway criteria, thermal behavior of reactors, effects of process control, analysis of accidents.
