Course Description Part 1 Generalities of fluids properties, Fluids statics, vertical distribution of pressure and static forces on surfaces. Part 2 Fluid kinematics and flow, one dimensional flows: continuity equation and momentum balance, mechanical energy balance and Bernoulli equation with applications. Real and ideal fluids . Force exerted by fluid in motion on the boundary. Part 3 Laminar and turbulent flow in bounded one dimensional systems. Shear stresses and pressure drop, friction factor and Reynolds number. Steady flow in pipelines. Radial velocity profiles and head profiles. Smooth and rough pipes. Pipe design. Part 4 Two- and three-dimensional flow.
