Course Description 1_PLC and Integrated Production Systems Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM). Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). PLC programming languages: Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Function Block Diagram, Instruction List and Structured Text. 2_Automation and Industrial Data Communications Introduction to distributed control systems and embedded systems. Basic principles of operation, physical media (wired/wireless), reference model ISO/OSI, fieldbus assignment with decentralized and centralized topologies. Fieldbus networks for embedded systems: PROFIBUS, CAN, CANopen, LIN, TTP and MODBUS. Background of the Industrial Ethernet networks: EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Ethernet Powerlink, EtherCAT, SERCOS III. 3_ Building Automation Home Automation and Building Automation (Home & Building Automation). Communication protocols dedicated to Home Automation: KNX and proprietary systems. Systems based on the IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee wireless protocol within the HAN (Home Area Network).
