Course Title MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS TOOLS FOR ENGINEERING
Course Type Mono-Disciplinary Course
Credits (CFU / ECTS) 8.0
Semester First Semester
Course Description The aim of this course is an introduction to the techniques of differential and integral calculus for functions of complex variable: zeroes, poles, residues. Some relevant tools for solving problems related to differential equations are introduced and employed: distributions, Fourier series, Fourier transform, Laplace transform, separation of variables techniques, essentials of Functional Analysis. Main examples and applications are focused on: periodic solutions of ordinary differential equations; Cauchy problem for wave equation and heat equation; boundary value problems for Laplace equation. Aims and scope Problem solving for ordinary and partial differential equations. Manipulation of analytic functions of complex variable, distributions, Fourier series, Fourier transform, Laplace transform
