Course Description The course aims to stimulate the student's interest in the concept of automation applied to the transport sector, deepening the different topics through theoretical lessons, discussions with students and numerous meetings with the industries of the sector and technical visits. Different types of transport systems will be addressed (train, subway, ship, airplane, and vehicles). A part of the lessons will focus on the concept of automation, taking up the basic concepts. Afterwards, the basic knowledge of the automatic transport systems will be provided through the description of their design and construction characteristics and the criteria for the management of an automatic transport system will be indicated with particular attention to the safety aspects of operation and compliance with the regulations of the sector. All the topics addressed will present examples of real applications.
