Course Description Introduction to electric systems: definitions, typical structures, statistics, current challenges. Modelling of the main components of electric systems: transformers (2 and 3 windings, tap-changers, autotransformers), lines (shunt and series parameters), loads and generation. Steady - state operation of power systems: load flow computation, security analysis, sensitivities, voltage collapse. Short-circuit currents computation: positive/negative/zero sequence circuits, computation of faulted state: currents, voltages. Protection systems: definitions and devices. Protection of power system elements. State estimation for transmission systems. Dynamics of power systems: different types of transients and relevant modelling.
