Course Description The course focuses on an advanced treatment of selected subjects of heat and mass transfer, and it is aimed at solving problems of intermediate-high complexity concerned with the thermal design and control of equipment and plants where power is generated, transformed or used. Main topics are heat transfer by radiation, heat conduction and mass diffusion. Case studies are developed to apply the theoretical framework to complex systems and processes, like radiative heat transfer in industrial furnaces, environmental radiation, selective surfaces, multi-dimensional steady-state and transient heat conduction, diffusive processes in distillation columns.
