Course Description Methodological competences: 1) Introduction. Basic principles of components and systems operation and maintenance: general goals, procedures and constraints. 2) Operation. Organization of NPP operations; human and organizational factors; control of equipment and plant status; fault detection, diagnosis and prognosis; 3) Maintenance. Objectives and strategic planning; maintenance intervention approaches: corrective, predictive (scheduled and condition-based), opportunistic; maintenance decision - making strategies: reliability center maintenance and risk based/informed maintenance. Computational tools: probabilistic models, optimization methods, nonlinear regression and filter models applied to the operational conditions monitoring and the maintenance of nuclear components and systems
