Course Title BUILDING PHYSICS
Course Type Mono-Disciplinary Course
Credits (CFU / ECTS) 12.0
Semester First Semester
Course Description The objective of the course is to acquire the fundamentals and the methodology for the analysis of thermodynamic systems, heat transfer, acoustics and lighting phenomena, with a focus on the issues of energy performance and comfort in buildings. The students will be led to assimilate the physical basis and the main methods of the discipline, the operative definition of the fundamental quantities, and the orders of magnitude, so that they will be able to develop practical applications and insights in the following courses based on a robust and non-mnemonic knowledge. Whenever possible, examples of engineering problems that were the drive for the development of the theory or applications from the construction engineering work will be used for supporting and motivating the learning process. The CEN-ISO-UNI standard useful for the description of the phenomena and for the applications will be outlined.
