Course Title FUNDAMENTALS OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
Course Type Mono-Disciplinary Course
Credits (CFU / ECTS) 10.0
Semester First Semester
Course Description Conservation equations at macroscopic and microscopic scale for mass, energy and momentum. Mass, energy and momentum fluxes at microscopic scale and their dependence from the promoting gradients: i.e., Fick, Fourier and Newton laws. Analogies among the elementary laws and among the microscopic conservation equations. Resolution of some representative problems funded on the use of those equations. Transport properties (diffusivity, thermal conductivity, viscosity) and the equations for their deduction. Influence of the turbulence on transport phenomena and its simplified solutions. Relations between elementary and global mass and heat transfer; liminar transport coefficients, their use and deduction. Mutual influence between chemical reactions and transport phenomena. Introduction to basic chemical reaction engineering and to the ideal chemical reactors stability.
