Course Description The aim of the course is to prepare the students to understand the problems related to the transport of information through TLC networks. The principal concepts of services and networks will be presented. The traditional networks for telephony and for data will be examined. The focus of the course will be set to the communication protocols and the transport mechanism of information in presence of noisy connections. The most advanced networks both circuit switched, such as ISDN ,and packet switched such as Internet will be examined. The course includes a laboratory activity based on the teaching of the principles of discrete events simulation applied to the study of packed switched networks.
