Course Description This module presents the fundamental theory on the transmission of analogue and digital signals. We consider the fundamentals of probability theory and random processes (including thermal and shot noise). We study time and frequency characteristics of deterministic and random signals, of linear time-invariant and time-variant filters which model a communication channel. Finally, we consider the transmission of analogue and digital signals in baseband and passband channels, with analogue and digital modulations, in amplitude, phase and frequency.
