Course Description The macroscopic characteristics of the chemical materials are based on the aggregation properties that the molecules that constitute them manifest. These properties are determined by the non-covalent interactions that drive the intermolecular recognition process. The term non-covalent comprises a series of attractive and repulsive forces the whose role and interplay determine the formation of nano-structured functional materials. The goal of the course will be to introduce models for the understanding of the existing relations between microscopic structures of the matter and macroscopic properties of the materials. To supply instruments and methodologies for a chemical understanding of the properties of the matter and the transformations that it endures. To supply acquaintances on the functional characteristics of organic and inorganic materials and on the modalities of interaction between matter and electromagnetic radiation or electricity.
