Course Description The course highlights the basic knowledge and technical skills related to working characteristics, selection criteria and design methods of the fundamental components of heating and cooling plants such as refrigerators, chillers, heat pumps, boilers and furnaces, heat exchangers, cooling towers and solar thermal collectors. For the pertinent components, the course provides the thermodynamic analysis tools, the performance criteria, the design procedures and tools. The course covers the following competence areas: 1 - Refrigerators and chillers; 2 - Heat pumps and renewable energy sources; 3. - Boilers and furnaces; 4 - Cooling towers; 5 - Heat exchangers; 6 - Solar thermal collectors with heat pumps and refrigeration machines.
