Course Description Generalized stress state (axial force, shear force and bending moment) in statically determined beam systems Basic principles of continuum mechanics: concepts of strain, stress and constitutive relationship in linear elasticity. Stress state in Saint Venant's solids: axial force, bending moment, shear and torsion referred to beams with simple geometry. Analysis of deformable plane beam system using the theory of elastica and the virtual work principle.
