Course Description The course provides a general view of the current methods and tools offered by the information technology for the smart factory. The course covers selected topics in the domains of industrial automation, communication, and data management. Some elements of automatic control are used to give an overview of process automation (with emphasis on the role of dynamics and feedback) and discrete automation. Industrial robotics and collaborative robotics are addressed as well. Industrial Internet of Things is then introduced, with reference to the communication technologies, the communication protocols, and the management platforms. Architectures of modern data management systems are finally introduced, discussing basics of data integration, dynamic data integration, and data analysis and exploration.
