Course Description The goal of the Model Identification and Data Analysis (MIDA) course is to enable students to extract ("learn") useful information from data. The course, which takes the student progressively and methodically through the steps of understanding the principles and the tools for black-box model identification and data analysis, is subdivided in two parts. In MIDA 1, the focus is on the construction of data-driven black box models for the treatment of a variety of problems such as prediction, anomaly-detection, classification, encountered in many science and engineering applications. In MIDA 2 the focus is on Kalman filtering (the most important technique for variable estimation and SW-sensing), and on advanced techniques of model-identification and data-analysis: state-space system-identification, frequency-domain system-identification, non-linear modelling, data-driven design of control systems.
