Course Description Network and system programming: TCP/IP network programming, parallel programming, development of client/server distributed applications. Introduction to the structure of Operating Systems, with reference to Linux: processes description, control and management, memory management and virtual memory, file system structure and device drivers. Structured computer organization: levels and virtual machines. Digital logic level: logic gates and Boolean algebra, Boolean functions implementation, basic combinational circuits, basic sequential elements, memory organization. Functional subsystems, buses and interfacing: bus organization and bus arbitration, memory and I/O devices interfacing, interrupt handling. Microarchitecture level: the data path e control path of the IJVM machine, microinstructions and microcode, microarchitecture design and performances: pipelining and cache memory. Instruction Set Architecture Level: instruction formats, instruction types and addressing modes, IJVM memory model and operand stack, IJVM instruction set, assembly process and linking.
