Course Description The aim of the course is to present the main techniques for the safety and reliability analysis of industrial systems, such as the Preliminary Hazard Analysis, the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, the Fault Tree Analysis. Then, the most frequently used methods for the fault detection and diagnosis in industrial systems will be described. In particular, data-driven methods will be introduced, such as the principal component analysis and the control charts. In the final part of the course, analytical techniques for fault detection and diagnosis will be introduced, such as those based on recursive estimation algorithms, state observers, parity equations. A number of industrial examples will be discussed to illustrate the main characteristics of the methods.
