Course Description Analyses of vehicle dynamics with Multi-Body Techniques. Equation of motion: steady state and transient conditions, linearisation, stability. Wheel rail and road tyre contact characteristics. Performance evaluation: longitudinal dynamics: acceleration and braking conditions. Comfort evaluation: vehicle models for vertical dynamics. Comfort indices. Deformability effects. The handling problem: road vehicle dynamics on straight and curve. Steady state, Transient, handling diagrams. Rail vehicles in straight and curve: wheel set, bogie and complete vehicles models. Active control in vehicles: some applications: active suspensions, ABS, VDC, 4WD, 4WS, steering bogies, tilting trains.
