Course Description The course provides a rigorous overview of the fundamentals of optical imaging, from the micro/nano-scale to the macroscopic level. After reviewing the physical basis of optical propagation, a broad range of imaging technologies will be explored, including optical nanoscopy, classical and modern microscopy, diffuse optical spectroscopy and tomography, and photoacoustic tomography. Common and advanced photonics implementations will be described, together with examples of applications, with particular emphasis on biophysical and biomedical topics.
