Course Description The analysis of experimental data from tests and measurements on materials has a significant role in Materials Engineering, as well as the use of computer tools and programs suited to this analysis. This course introduces the basics of statistics and numerical calculus aiming at introducing the students to the application of these theoretical concepts to the critical analysis of a selection of experimental physical and chemical data, which will be obtained during the laboratory section of the course (e.g. mechanical tests, spectroscopic measurements, thermal measurements). Another aim of the the course aims is training the students to the use of sofwares available for numerical data analysis and representation, as well as for modeling the properties of materials in simple geometries.
