Course Description The course aims at providing students an overview of the knowledges to the design of experiments aimed to the mechanical characterization at small scale (10-3 - 10-6 m) of materials and microdevices. In the first part of the course, the practical and theoretical concepts useful for the implementation of experiments aimed at the study of mechanics at small scale will be provided throughout examples of experiments performed at the laboratories ISMicroLab (in-situ micromechanics Lab) and LABMEMS&3D. The second part of the course will focus on practical activities (design of experiment and experimental setup) aimed at providing students the possibility to apply the course topics by means "learning by doing" and "team working".
