Course Title INSTRUMENTAL METHODS FOR MATERIALS ANALYSIS
Course Type Mono-Disciplinary Course
Credits (CFU / ECTS) 5.0
Semester First Semester
Course Description Instrumental analysis of compounds and materials has gained an increasing relevance in the chemical recognition of substances, in the determination of their purity and in the characterization of materials from production, to processing, to the end of life. The fields of application are extremely wide, and several methods with high sensitivity and versatility are now available. In this context, some instrumental characterization techniques have been chosen, which include spectrometry and spectroscopy analyses, allowing for the chemical characterization of materials. For each instrumental method, the fundamental principles are reported, and information obtained are discussed. The acquired knowledge is applied to the recognition of substances and materials in education simple examples and in case studies. This will also allow students to resume, with a different approach, concepts related to the chemical structure.
