Course Description The aim of this course is to give basic and advanced knowledge in modern nuclear reactor physics and its engineering applications. The course is made of two parts. The first covers a brief summary of the neutron transport equation, reactions induced by neutrons, nuclear fission, slowing down of neutrons, diffusion theory, fast and thermal spectrum calculations, fast and thermal group constants, point kinetics, and fission-product poisoning. In the second part, the reactor dynamics and perturbation theory are illustrated. The course presents also energy systems based on fission nuclear reactions and gives some practical understanding of reactors physics/operation through several exercises/home works conducted mainly in the computer lab.
