Course Description The course addresses the fundamental management and technical aspects of security in enterprises, emphasizing the need for good security management. The purpose is to enable the communication between the language of security and the language of enterprise, to enable informed conversations between technology teams and organization managers. The course aims are to: i) identify the problems and concepts of security management in organizations; ii) show how these problems can be solved through organizational and technical measures. Therefore, it describes the policies, methods, tools, and resources to set in place to achieve these aims in private and public organizations. The course has two parts: 1) introduction to security fundamentals and security management; 2) description of technical and organizational measures that can be adopted to deploy security management. Security and privacy of (and "new data" such as Big Data, streaming data from IoT systems, data warehouse systems, etc.) is focused. The GDPR and its application are analyzed through descriptions of guidelines to security plans formulation. Testimonials of security management present cases and experiences in practical application of measures for data privacy, security plans, management of security services for privacy protection, and other security management in enterprises. An optional project is part of the course deployment.
